Gilchrist “Gig” Paul Macquarrie passed away on September 21st, 2010. He was 63 years old. Beloved father of Shannon Macquarrie. He is also survived by his loving brother Joseph Donald Macquarrie and his wife Diane M.  Also survived and loved by his nieces and nephews Dana and her husband Brian and their children Riley, Jacob and Brodie Getchell, Gilchrist Macquarrie, Forest and his wife Nettie Macquarrie, Lachlan and his wife Sarah Macquarrie and Sadie Macquarrie. Beloved son of the late Joseph Gilchrist and Theresa J. (Hertig).  Beloved brother of the late Linda J. Macquarrie. He will also be loved and missed by his extended family, Shannon’s mother Susan (Devine) and Shannon’s brother Michael Sampson and his great friends Ronnie MacIntyre, Mark Foley and so many more. Gilchrist attended Mass Maritime where he received a Bachelors in Marine Engineering. He continued as an Engineer in the Merchant Marines. Gilchrist was married in March of 1978 and four years later in 1982 had a daughter, Shannon. At that time he had moved onto Stone and Webster where he did Nuclear Power Plant Modifications. For Stone and Webster he traveled from Massachusetts to Texas for a few years. Recently, he worked with his brother Donnie at the family Insurance Agency in Roslindale. His family describes him as having a great heart, a great sense of humor and an incredible father, brother, uncle and friend. Gilchrist was always happiest when with his family and would always have a smile on his face. He was a great lover of sports, specifically the Patriots and Red Sox. He loved the ocean, fishing and his summer home in Scituate. Gilchrist also enjoyed, with his daughter, thunderstorms and a great book. He always loved a good joke and he loved to laugh. He was always available to listen with a sympathetic ear and a warm attitude. He will be greatly loved and missed by everyone. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours at Folsom Funeral Service 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale, Ma. 02131 on Sunday September 26th, 2010 from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. A celebration of his life will be held at Folsom Funeral Service on Monday September 27th at 12pm. The burial will take place in St. Josephs  Cemetery ,following the service. In lieu of flowers the family invites you to make a donation to Meow or Never Animal Rescue and Sanctuary,  P.O. Box 733, Woodinville, WA 98072,(a non profit animal shelter)  that he was so proud of Shannon for volunteering for.
