George Arthur Dawes, a lifetime resident of Roslindale and West Roxbury, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Roscommon on the Parkway nursing home after a brief illness. He was 58. George was born May 16, 1954 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the four children of Alanson O. and Abigail (Savage) Dawes. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and of Demolay and he graduated from Boston English High School with the Class of 1972. George worked as a bus driver for Carroll Bus Company, and most recently for Crystal Transport where he worked for about 10 years until the late 1990’s. He enjoyed watching wrestling and movies. George is survived by his mother, Abigail (Savage) Dawes of West Roxbury; his sister, Donna J. Dawes of West Roxbury; and his two brothers, Donald A. Dawes of West Roxbury and John A. Dawes Sr of Plymouth. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday at 11 AM at the Funeral Home followed by burial in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury.
