Eva I. Ghizzoni

d. February 16, 2016

Eva Irene (Tomei) Ghizzoni was born June 1st, 1922 and passed peacefully Tuesday, February 16, 2016.  She was 93 years young. She was a longtime resident of East Dedham.

In her younger years she enjoyed working at Stop and Shop in Dedham and the Hallmark store in the Dedham Mall.  She also traveled with her best lady friends, Helen and Eileen, and their church group. She would often reflect on how much fun she had on those trips.  After she retired, she began helping out the kindergarten children at the Prescott School in Norwood and then spent several years helping at Mrs. Perry’s Preschool in Norwood. Those were the best work days of her life.

She enjoyed reading until her eyes got too old and then she turned to audio-books — which if asked how the book was she would tell you she had no idea because the soothing voices of the tapes would make her fall asleep.  Eva loved to watch old television shows like Westerns and Bonanza. The Fall season was Eva’s favorite. The crisp air, the leaves turning colors and so many craft fairs to go to. During the Fall weekends, nothing made her happier than going for a long drive to look at the foliage. During the summer, she would also never turn down a ride to Nantasket Beach or to Plymouth to look at the water. Eva always looked forward to her weekly visits to Paul’s Hair Stylist in Dedham for a set and social hour.

Most of all, Eva loved her family and her cat, Gracie.

She is loved by her children, John and Elaine Ghizzoni, Janet and Pat McGillicuddy, Allen Ghizzoni and Ellen Tripanier.

She is a Cherished Nana Eva to Marianne Ghizzoni-Blount and Jonathon Blount, John Ghizzoni and Dan McGillicuddy.  She is “Neva” to Sandra and Kevin Guarino and David Tripanier.

Eva is also Great Grandmother of four — she is Nana Eva to Jonathon (who also lovingly called her “old bird”) and Tyler.  She is “Neva” to Marissa and Matthew.

In lieu of flowers, Eva’s favorite charity was the MSPCA, 350 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA  02130

Graveside services will be private.
