Ethel (Sharis) Parrelli

Ethel Athena (Sharis) Parrelli, a resident of Dedham, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the German Centre for Extended Care in West Roxbury.  She was 92.  Ethel was born December 20, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of Greek immigrants George and Ellen (Andritsakis) Sharis.  She graduated from East Boston High School and studied at the Boston Clerical School.  Ethel worked for the Dedham Transcript and then for many years as the Assistant Tax Collector for the Town of Dedham, serving under Tax Collector Wendy Clement.  She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 18 of Dedham; a member of the Dedham Troubadours; and she participated in numerous Dedham Senior Center Plays and productions. Ethel enjoyed dancing, wintering in Naples, Florida with her family and friends, and travel, including Hawaii and Europe.  A special joy was a trip to her family’s homesteads in Greece  where she proudly revelled in her heritage.   Ethel is survived by her husband of 67 years, William Charles Parrelli; her son William Charles Jr., and his partner Rodney Gandee, of Naples, Florida; and her two daughters, Susan E. Krug, and her husband Peter, of Dedham, and Karen R. Parrelli of West Roxbury.  She was the sister of the late Nick, Peter, Daniel, Socrates, Stella, Bertha, Olga, Nellie, and Joanne, all of whom predeceased her.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 7th from noon to 4 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 9 am Monday and proceed with us to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham for her Funeral Mass at 10 o clock.  Interment will follow in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 would be appreciated.
