Elizabeth L Clement

Elizabeth Luette (Asbrand) Clement, a resident of Mashpee, but formerly of Walpole, Westwood, and Dedham died Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 at her daughter's home in Mashpee after a period of declining health.  She was 94. Betty was born September 4, 1930 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the three children of Karl Hopkins and Karin C. (Sundelof) Asbrand. She graduated Dedham High School with the Class of 1948 and earned her Diploma in Nursing from Salem Hospital.  Betty started her nursing career at the Glover Hospital in Needham (now the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital) and then spent over 10 years working in the Nursery at Norwood Hospital tending to newborns.  Most of her career was spent as the Head School Nurse at the Westwood High School overseeing all the schools in Westwood until her retirement in 1996.  Even in retirement she could not stay away from nursing and she returned to Norwood Hospital as a volunteer.  Betty was the wife of the late love of her life Charles Joseph Clement whom she married in 1952 and who predeceased her in 1999, and the mother of the late David Clement who predeceased her in 2009.  She was the sister of the late Charles W. Asbrand and twin sister of the late Barbara Ann Davis.  Betty is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn McDonough, and her husband Paul, of Holbrook, and Barbara Reilly, and her husband Mark, of Mashpee; her son Gary Clement of Boston, and her late son David's wife Gina Clement, of Parker, Colorado.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, as well as many close nieces and nephews.  Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 7th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Tuesday, April 8th at 10 am at St. John's Episcopal Church, 95 Deerfield Ave, Westwood followed by interment in New Westwood Cemetery.
