E. Milton Regier

Earl Milton Regier, a resident of Westwood since 1956, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at his home in Westwood after a brief illness.  He was 100.  Milton was born May 7, 1909 in Moundridge, Kansas, the only child of Peter Paul and Olive Edna (Smith) Regier.  He graduated from Moundridge High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Kansas State University, graduating with the class of 1931.  From 1932 to 1938 he worked as a technician with the Kansas State Highway Department, and then for 33 years as a regional sales manager and chemical engineer for Hurcules, Incorporated until his retirement in 1974.  Milton was a member of three fraternities at Kansas State University; the Steel Ring, Sigma Tau, and Phi Kappa Tau.  Milton has also been a member of Wichita Masonic Lodge #99 AF & AM, Aleppo Temple Shrine of Wilmington, Massachusetts, the First Baptist Church of Westwood, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Boston Scottish Rite, the Westwood Retired Men’s Club, and an honorary member of the Chemical Club of New England.  He was also a former member of the Braeburn Country Club in Newton where he enjoyed curling and golf.  Milton was a freshwater fisherman and especially liked fly fishing.  An avid sports enthusiast, he followed all Boston sports teams, but the Red Sox held a special spot in his heart, and he rarely missed a game on radio, which he preferred because of the commentators.  Milton also enjoyed gardening, both at his house in Westwood and at his summer cottage.  Milton was the husband of the late Mary Ford (Lippmann) to whom he was married for 65 years.  He is survived by his daughter, Jane C. Harrington, and her husband Jack, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, and his granddaughter Erica Leigh (Harrington) Perkoski, and her husband Richard, of Smithfield, Rhode Island.  Private burial was in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Westwood.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090 would be appreciated.
