E. Louise Weafer

Eva Louise Weafer, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 10, 2009 at Traditions of Dedham. She was born in Gardner, Kansas on December 2, 1920, the daughter of Edgar and Mary (Parker) White, and was raised in Olathe, Kansas. Mrs. Weafer graduated from Olathe High School in 1938. She met Lt. Donald Weafer when he was stationed at the Olathe Naval Air Station during World War II and they married on January 13, 1946. She bravely left Kansas to begin her own family in New England where she spent the rest of her life. Together with her husband they were avid travelers, they vacationed many a summer in Ocean Park, Maine, toured many parts of the world including Europe and China. Mrs. Weafer was an active volunteer in many organizations, most notabley at the Islington Community Church, where she served as Deaconess and with the Muscular Distrophy Association of Massachusetts, where she served as Treasurer. She loved people. It was her family that was the real center of her life and she liked nothing better than to entertain family and friends at her home in Westwood. Her Christmas gatherings of extended family and friends often numbered forty to fifty and were the highlight of many holiday seasons. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Donald F. Weafer of Dedham; her son Donald F. Weafer Jr and his wife Catherine of Brunswick, ME, a daughter, Patricia L. Weafer and her partner Richard Bourgelas of Millis; her grandsons  Richard Weafer and his wife Heather of Bath, ME, Donald F. Weafer III and his wife Sarah of Waterford, ME, James Hart IV and his wife Mary Ann of Berwick, ME,  her granddaughters Kimberly Weafer and her wife Tiffany Willis of Reading, Meghan Cranney and her husband Gregory of Auburn. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents the late Edgar and Mary White, ; her brother, the late Raymond White, her sister and brother-in-law  the late Elaine and Max Riffey. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2009 4-8 pm at Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St., Westwood. Funeral services Thursday October 15, 2009 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Westwood, 808 High Street, Westwood MA. 02090. Burial at New Westwood Cemetery in Westwood. In lieu of flowers donations in Eva’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Westwood, Memorial Fund, address listed above.
