Dorothy V. Hoeckel

Dorothy Virginia Hoeckel, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood, MA.  She died on her 91st birthday.  Dorothy was born April 23, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of Otto and Lillian Ida (Jameson) Sweet.  She was a graduate of Dedham High  School and worked as a switchboard operator for GTE Sylvania Corporation of Needham for 17 years until her retirement in 1988.  Dorothy was the wife of the late Theodore Robert Hoeckel Jr., and the mother of the late Wendy Whitman, and the late  Theodore R. Hoeckel III.  She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Lefner, and her husband Ken, of Sudbury; as well as 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Private interment was in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
