Dorothy H. Saltmarsh

Dorothy H. (Whitehouse) Saltmarsh, a 72 year resident of Westwood, passed away March 24, 2020 at the Bear Mountain Nursing Home in Andover, Massachusetts at the age 97. Dorothy was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1922, and was the loving daughter of John and Emily (Battey) Whitehouse. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology and master’s degree in education at Boston University and taught science at Westwood High School. Dorothy was always proud that she learned to fly an airplane in the 1940’s before she leaned to drive a car and was a member of a flying club at Norwood Airport. It was there that she met her husband, the late Hazen J. Saltmarsh who passed away in January of 2020. They had been married for 72 years. She was the dear mother of Dean and his wife Rochelle, and Eric and his wife Lorena. Loving grandmother of Hillary, Brooke, Sam, and Kimberly Saltmarsh. Sister of the late Faith Parker, Harold, Gerald, and Ronald Whitehouse. Burial will be private at New Westwood Cemetery. Services for Dorothy are being planned for the summer.
