Donna M. Reuning

Donna Mae (Peters) Reuning, a resident of Oak Point in Middleborough, and formerly of Newton and Palm Springs, California, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at her home in Middleborough.  She was 85.  Donna was born November 23, 1931 in Ceylon, Minnesota, one of the four children of Carl and Esther (Wallman) Peters.  She graduated from Stewartville High School in Minnesota.  For 60 years Donna served side by side with her husband, Reverend Walter H. Reuning, in the churches he pastored: Our Saviors Lutheran in Palm Springs California, First Lutheran in Boston and Trinity Lutheran in West Roxbury.  She was an active member and zone president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  Donna also worked for 20 years as the office secretary at the Memorial Spaulding School in Newton until her retirement in 1992.  Donna is survived by her husband, Reverend Walter H. Reuning; her three children, Mary E. Reuning of Norwood, Jonathan C. Reuning of Long Island City, New York and Joy R. MacLeod, and her husband Rory, of Holliston; her two brothers, James Peters of Hastings, Minnesota and Wallace Peters of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and her two grandchildren, Brenna and James Weidman.  She was the sister of the late Patty Jane Cochrane.  Visiting hours will be held Monday, January 2, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend Donna’s funeral Tuesday at 10 am at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 950 East Street, Dedham. A collation will be held immediately after the funeral, followed by interment in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker Street, West Roxbury .
