Donald G. Weir

Donald G. Weir of Westwood, MA died December 29, 2013. He was 86 years old and was a long time resident of Westwood and Norwood.  Born in Somerville, MA on August 5, 1927 and spent his early years in Watertown.  He served in the US Navy at the end of World War 2. He worked for many years at the Bird and Son factory in Norwood as well as at Polaroid and Factory Mutual in Norwood.  He is an active member in a number of Masonic Lodges including Norwood, Westwood, and Walpole.  He is also a member of the American Legion.  The beloved husband of Frances V. (Costello) Weir of Westwood.  The proud father of 8 including Donald J. Weir and his wife Dolores Weir of Framingham, Barbara A. Hasenfus and her husband Stephen Hasenfus of Norwood, Susan M. Patterson and her husband John Patterson of Walpole, Daniel M. Weir and his wife Shirley-Ann Weir of Norwood, Linda M. Meloni and her husband James Sgouros of Plaistow, NH, Patrick R. Weir and his wife Susan Weir of Plainville, Nancy J. Scanlon and her husband Michael Scanlon of Mendon, and Timothy M. Weir and his wife Karen Weir of Thompson, CT.  He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Visiting hours will be from 5-8 PM with a Masonic service by Orient Lodge AF & AM of Norwood at 7 0’clock on Tuesday, January 7th at the Folsom Funeral Home at 649 High Street, Westwood, MA.   A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Westwood, 808 High Street, Westwood MA. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s name can be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 808 High Street, Westwood MA 02090.
