Daniel V. Dalia, a longtime resident of Hyde Park (Readville), age 90 years, passed away on July 2, 2017 with his family by his side. Born in Boston, he was the son of James V. and Mildred (Pergamo) Dalia. Danny was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. He worked for the Massachusetts Transit Authority as an MBTA operator until he retired. A member of the VFW Jacob Jones Post 2017 of Dedham and longstanding patron of Richey’s Drugstore, he was also active with the Readville Seniors. He enjoyed traveling and was a devoted grandfather and great grandfather. They ALL were his pride and joy. A tradition for over 40 years, his family gathered for dinner which became known as the “Monday Night Crew” and had the sauce that was always prepared by him. His children will fondly remember his favorite phrase he had for everything, “Just sayin”.
Danny was predeceased by his wife Joan M. (Donahue) in 2008. He is survived by his children, Daniel Dalia and his wife MaryEllen, Joann Berube and her husband Glenn, and Donna Cannata, all residents of Hyde Park, along with his grandchildren; Erin and Tom, Jennifer and Josh, Colleen and Sean, Amanda, Matthew, Kelly and James, Stephen and Meghan, and his great grandchildren; Madelyn, Grace, Bennett, Sloane, Layla, Hazel, Anna, Makayla and 3 more to arrive in October!
Danny is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Claire Dalia of Hyde Park and Jeannette Dalia of Florida.
He was the brother of the late Augustine, Nicholas, James, Helen, Madeline, Frances, Vicky, Pat & Rose Dalia.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 4 to 8PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Friday starting at 9 am and proceed to St. Anne Church, 82 W. Milton St. in Readville for his Mass of Christian burial at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Boston. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472
