Charlotte Gertrude (Pierce) MacLeod, a resident of Belmont, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at her son’s home in Belmont in her 100th year. Charlotte was born November 28, 1914 in Albany, New York, one of the five children of Charles Henry and Gertrude Ethel (Strong) Pierce. She grew up in Melrose before moving to Washington, DC. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Library Science from George Washington University she moved back to Boston where she married Donald Gordon MacLeod and raised their three sons. Charlotte then worked for over 20 years as a librarian for the Boston University Medical Library until her retirement in 1984. She was the family historian and genealogist and enjoyed researching her family tree. Charlotte was the wife of the late Donald Gordon MacLeod who predeceased her in Novemebr of 1972. She was the sister of the late Charles Pierce, the late Phillip Pierce, and the late Mary Elizabeth Lee. She is survived by her three sons, Donald G. MacLeod of Dedham, Arthur H. MacLeod, and his wife Naomi, of Belmont, and Robert P. MacLeod of Ashburnham; her brother, Francis “Frank” Pierce of Silver Spring, Maryland; her six grandchildren, Robert, Heather, Seth, Blaine, Tracy and Michelle; and her four great grandchildren. Andrew Jacob, Jordan, and Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Wednesday, April 2nd at 10 AM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Burial will be in Havens Cemetery in South Royalton, Vermont.
