Carrie Mae (McBride) Barbaglia, a resident of Canton for 72 years, died Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Stanley R. Tippett Home in Needham.  She was 95.  Carrie was born September 19, 1922 in Louisville, Georgia, one of the seven children of Thomas Gardner and Willie Letitia (Sheppard) McBride.  She was a graduate from Vidette High School in Vidette, Georgia and then studied at Beauty School in Louisville, Georgia before working for a year at Wade’s Beauty Shop in Hawkinsville, Georgia.  In October of 1943 Carrie enlisted in the Coast Guard.  She was honorably discharged three years later as Storekeeper, Second Class.  Carrie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norwood and served as the church’s secretary of 50 years.  She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion.  Carrie was the wife of the late Luciano “Chano” John Barbaglia, who predeceased her in 1992; the mother of the late Ouida Virginia Tompkins; and the sister of the late Ruth Louise Sexton, Thomas Gardner McBride, Richard Maynard McBride, and William Henry McBride.  She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Ann Butler of Westerly, Rhode Island; her two sisters, Ouida Malon of Colonial Heights, Virginia and Neva Joanne Rawson of Davidson, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Craig Tompkins, Sarah Letitia Crittendon, and Kay Ouida Dyar; as well as 8 great grandchildren.  Visiting hours will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Folsom & May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, Norwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carrie’s funeral Saturday at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Norwood followed by interment in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  In lieu of flowers donations to the First Baptist Church, 71 Bond Street, Norwood, MA 02062 or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
