Bertha E. Emmott

Bertha Ellen Emmott, a life long resident of Dedham, died Monday, October 15, 2012 at Highgate Manor in Dedham.  She was 94 years old. Mrs. Emmott was born at her family home in Dedham.  She was the daughter of the late Goldie E.  (Swett) and William W.  Garlick.  Bertha graduated from Dedham High School, Class of 1936. She managed the family business, Dedham Custom Laundry, for over 4o years.  They closed the business in 1980.  Bertha loved animals, especially cats. She was predeceased by her husband Philip M. Emmott; her brothers William E. Garlick, and Raymond S. Garlick; and her sister Ruth E. Garlick. Bertha is survived by her brother Wilfred W. Garlick of Sun City, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.  Services are private.  Donations in Bertha’s memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Dedham, 55 Anna’s Place, Dedham, MA 02026.
