Bertha E. (Barnes) Laakso

Bertha Edith Laakso, a resident of Attleboro for many years and formerly of West Roxbury died Friday September 23, 2011 at Life Care Center of Raynham after a long illness. She was 92. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Austin) Barnes. Mrs. Laakso was born in Boston. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years in  private home care. She was predeceased by her husband the late Voitto W. and her son Donald W. Laakso. She is survived by her childen David R. and his wife Lorraine of Forestdale, MA., Raymond V. and his wife Kawannah of Alva, FL., and Joyce M. and her husband William Upham of Mansfield. She is also survived by her sisters Ruth McCourt of West Roxbury, Eleanor Rozen of Dedham, Helen Doloff of Plymouth and her brother Robert Barnes of Tamworth,   NH.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Sister of the late Harold and Arthur Barnes. Visiting hours will be held Monday, September 26, 2011 at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols St., Norwood from 4-8 pm. Funeral Tuesday at the funeral home at 11 am. Burial at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
