Arvid G. “Mike” Rubenis

Arvid Gunar “Mike” Rubenis, a Boston resident, died Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital peacefully after a long struggle with kidney and heart disease. He was 83. Mike was born December 3, 1939 in Riga, Latvia, a son of Arvid Edmunds and Jadviga (Grebezs) Rubenis. He immigrated to the United States by way of Sweden as a teenager and has been a Boston resident ever since. Mike was a US Army veteran who served in Hanau, Germany from 1961 to 1964 where he met and married his wife Lieselotte Huss who predeceased him in 1978. He worked as a production manager for the First Electronics Corporation of Dorchester for over 50 years until his retirement in 2017. Mike is survived by his daughter, Mona Inocentes, and her husband Bismarck, of West Roxbury; his son, Rudy Rubenis, and his wife Mary, of Winchester; his brother Karl Rubenis of Springfield; and his grandchildren, Chloe Rubenis, Nicholas Inocentes, and his wife Caitlin, and their children, Aubrey and Nora, and Miranda Inocentes, and her fiance Jason Danis. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff of 4 West and 4 Usen at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Arvid’s multiple hospital admissions. A special note of gratitude to the NWH Palliative Care Service for ensuring his passing was peaceful and painless. Additionally, the family would like to thank the staff at American Renal Associates in Wellesley and Ludlow for their excellent care. Services and interment were held privately at the family’s request.
