Arline Claire Fischer, a resident of Townsend, and formerly of Norwood for many years, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 after a brief illness. She was 80. Known to many as Grandma, she was born in Quincy to her parents John and Catherine (Ellis) Marini. Mrs Fischer worked for over 25 years in both the Norwood High School and Junior High Schools in the cafeteria. She retired in 1993. She then moved to Townsend and worked in the elementary school cafeteria there for 6 years, retiring in 2006. Her many pleasures included time spent with her grandchildren, baking, reading and she was a big fan of the Lady T-Hawks basketball team in Townsend. They lovingly nicknamed her “G-Fish”. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Fischer and her brother,  Edward Marini. She is survived by her children, Steven C. Fischer of Attleboro, Lynne A. Fischer of Onset, Joseph C. Fischer of Franklin, Sandra R. Picard of Townsend and Stacey L. McNamara of Medfield. She is also survived by her sister-in-Law Gloria Marini of Quincy; her nieces Pam and Cheryl; her nephews Brian and David; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside service Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 11 am at Highland Cemetery, Winter St., Norwood.
