Alfred “Butch Hassey

Alfred J. Hassey, Jr. “Butch”, of Wrentham and formerly of Dedham, passed away on Nov. 6, 2019 with his family by his side. He was 75 years old. Born in Boston, and the son of Alfred J.Hassey, Sr. and Evelyn P. (Prisco) Navaroli. Butch was known for his humor and friendship. Once you met him, you wanted him as your friend. He never let you leave his house hungry and made sure you went home with food. His love of music was due to his early days as a DJ for parties and weddings. He liked to play pool and horseshoes. His family fondly calls him “Mr. Fix It”. He would be there to do anything you needed or if he thought you needed something done. He was a member of the former Moose Club and Eagles Club of Hyde Park. He was “Papa Butch” to his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. Everyone he met became a friend. He just enjoyed people and will be sorely missed. Butch is survived by his wife Cindy (DeCoste) Hassey of Wrentham, his children; Michael Hassey of Wrentham, Lisa Rivera and her husband Lou of Plainville, Stacy Denekamp and David Roney of Pawtucket, RI, John Hassey of Wareham, Paul Hassey and his wife Karen of Fall River and Mark Hassey and his wife Jennifer of Fairhaven. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Derek and Jeremy Denekamp, Corryn and Rebecca Rivera, Christopher, Jeffrey, Matthew, Aiden, Cody, Mackenna, Brandon and Darrien Hassey and his great grandchild, Kemelah Hassey. His dear cats, “Misty and Raven”. He was predeceased by his siblings, Michael Hassey, Jean Mitchell, Claire Burns and Doris Higgins. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. His Funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 10AM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
