Albert F. “Bert” Aylward Jr., the owner and operator of Bert’s Service Center in Dedham, died Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 at Sunrise of Cohasset in Cohassset, Massachusetts. He was 86. Mr. Aylward was born September 19, 1923 in Boston, the son of Albert F. Sr., and Edith M. (Smythe) Aylward. He graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1943 and served in the US Navy Aircorp during World War Two. For 24 years he ran Bert’s Service Center in Dedham Square until his retirement in 1988. Bert was a past president and 30 year member of the Dedham Lions Club. He was the husband of the late Jeane E. (Goodwin) and is survived by two sons, David S., and his wife Donna Aylward, of Abington, and Richard A., and his wife Denice Aylward, of Mansfield; his sister, Doris M. Foley of Walpole; and two granddaughters, Dorian and Monica Aylward. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Bert’s funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at the Funeral Home followed by burial in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
