In the 9 years that we lived in Dedham, Stewart and Martha were the most wonderful neighbors that we ever could have had. We have fond memories of sitting out on the Robertsons screen porch listening to Stewart share stories about life on Adams Street and how the neighborhood had evolved over the years. Stewart was also very kind to our girls, Emma Jo and Lucy. On Halloween each year, as Martha snapped photos of the girls, it was Stewart who encouraged them to shovel more candy into their plastic pumpkins. Although they were quite young when we moved, they still tell guests at our house that it was Stewart, their neighbor from Dedham, that carved the two sweet chicadees that they proudly keep in their bedroom. In recent years, we have always felt welcome stopping for a chat at Robertson’s home on our visits back back to Dedham. We will greatly miss Stewart’s welcoming smile whenever we swing down Adams Street in the future.
