Bodell, Jane
Jane Ross Leigh Bayne Bodell went to heaven on April 27, 2020. Jane died peacefully in the White Oaks Cottages at Foxhill Assisted Living Residence in Westwood, MA. Jane was born in 1928 in New York City, graduated from St Mary’s Episcopal School, Peekskill, NY, Centenary Jr. College, Hackettstown, NJ. and The Traphagen School of Fashion, NYC. Prior to her first marriage, she worked for Vogue Magazine and Vera Maxwell Designs. She and her sister modeled as the original “Toni Twins” for the Gillette Company’s successful 1950’s ad campaign, “Which Twin Has the Toni”. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames. She loved playing tennis and golf and had hobbies such as decoupage, needlepoint and volunteering at all of her churches in the cities where she lived. Her husband, Joseph J. Bodell of Providence, RI and Osterville, MA predeceased her, as did first husband, Bruce Bayne of Far Hills, NJ. Daughter of the late Harry Allan and Grace Larrabee Leigh of Greenwich, CT & Walpole, NH, predeceased by her sister Janet Leigh Figg and survived by her brother, Harry Allan Leigh III of Old Greenwich, Conn. She is also survived by her children, Samuel Gamble Bayne II (Katie) of Atlanta, GA and Elizabeth Bayne Curtis (William Gale V) of Beverly Farms, MA and 5 wonderful grandsons; Samuel Gamble Bayne III, Andrew Fenton Bayne and William Gale Curtis VI, Samuel Bayne Curtis and Jonathan Hale Curtis. She is also survived by 3 wonderful stepchildren who she loved like her own; Robin A. Bodell, Christine C. Bodell and Joseph J. Bodell Jr. and 6 wonderful step granddaughters. Contributions can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
