Coleman, Charlotte A.
Charlotte Ann (MacLucas) Coleman, a resident of New Pond Village in Walpole for the past four years, and formerly a resident of Westwood for 49 years, died Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 at her home in Walpole after a prolonged illness with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 82. Charlotte was born in Newton, a daughter of the late Charles Abraham and Frances (Newton) MacLucas. She graduated from Wheelock College and worked as an elementary school teacher for 5 years in Newton Centre and then for 25 years until her retirement in 1993 from the Westwood Public School System. In Westwood she taught at the Pine Hill, Sheehan and Martha Jones schools. She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling in both the United States and abroad. She loved her time with her family and her garden, and was an accomplished craftswoman, painting many oil and water-colored paintings, making quilts of all sizes and patterns, knitting and doing needlepoint. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Richard S. Coleman; her two daughters, Nancy, and her husband John P. Pendleton of Cambridge, MA and Groton, CT, and Judith C., and her husband John T. Schnebly of Wynantskill, NY; her son, Charles B., and his wife Susan Coleman of Oakdale, CT; her sister, Mariwood M. Ward of Bedford, MA; and her grandson, R. Kyle Coleman. Her funeral service was held Saturday, Sept 6th at the First Parish of Westwood United Church in Westwood. Private burial will be in Newton Cemetery in Newton, MA.
