LaMonica, Anthony S.
Anthony Santo LaMonica, a resident of Medfield, and formerly of Dedham, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the Norwood Hospital. He was 78. “Owl” as he was known to his childhood friends, was born on November 20, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts. The son of Philip and Clara (Carlucci) LaMonica. After high school, his family moved to Dedham where he was inducted in to the US Army in 1960. Tony served honorably until his discharge in 1962. He returned home to marry his wife of 57 years, Carol Jean (Porter). In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tina Anderson and her husband Michael of West Roxbury and Denese LaMonica of Norwood; his sons, Philip LaMonica of Framingham and Stephan LaMonica of Fort Lauderdale, FL.; his four granchildren, Stephanie LaMonica, Staff Sergeant Nicholas Batson, Felicia LaMonica and Patrick McDonald; his two sisters, Yolanda Lague, and Paula Cambell and her husband Ian; as well as two very close cousins, Richard Flamboras and Connie Landy; and many nieces and nephews. Tony was the brother of the late Hugh LaMonica. He was one of the original founders of the Dedham Youth Commission and an avid coin collector. He loved music and dance and often entertained others with his beautiful singing voice. He was a member of the Living Waters Church in Norwood, and his greatest joy came from his willingness to help others through their personal struggles. Services for Tony will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 11AM, at St. Luke’s Church, 950 East Street, Dedham. Burial Services to follow at Brookdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association, 260 Cochituate Road, #200, Framingham, MA 01701 and would be appreciated.

Tony I may not be here if not for you. I met you in Fl 30 yrs at the lowest point in my life & you guided me. You took me & others to Church & I found my savior. That along with the many days & nights we spoke has made me the Husband, Father & Friend i am today. I still use your 1 liners & I still reach out to help the hurting as you told me to. My heart is broke in one way but in another I also know you rest forever in the Arms of the Lord you introduced me to. You always said “Dan one day I won’t be here so ill need others to carry what was freely given to me. Tony I have and I will continue to until we meet again. Our Friends Bill & Bob are proud of faithful servant. I love you & your Family are all in my prayers.
Papa, I miss you so much
