Kakkas, Vasilios
Vasilios N. Kakkas, a longtime resident of West Roxbury, died Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston. He was 79. Vasilios was born October 3, 1940 in Krokees, Greece, a son of Nikolaos and Panagiota (Christofilakis) Kakkas. After emigrating to the United States he owned his own restaurant and then worked for 23 years as the owner and operator of B & D Tailors and Cleaners in Norwood. Vasilios loved fishing, casinos, dog and horse racing and food. Vasilios is survived by his wife, Dimitra (Seremetis) Kakkas; his two sons, James Kakkas of West Robury, and Nick Kakkas of Texas; his brother Dimitri Kakas, and his wife Jenny, of Sharon. He was the brother of the late Chris Kakas, and his wife Nancy, the late George Fondas, and his wife Toula, the late Kiki Katsoulis, and her late husband Demetrios, and the late Ekaterine Kalogerakos; and brother-in-law of Konstandina and Kostas Speggos of Greece. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, both in the United State and in Greece. Visiting hour will be held Monday, November 18th from 4 to 7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale. Relatives and friends will gather Tuesday starting at 10:30 am at the funeral home and proceed to St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church. 39 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale, MA 02131 for his funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the Gardens Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, (address above) would be appreciated.
