Cornacchini, Norman

Cornacchini, Norman

Norman G. Cornacchini, 83 of Dedham, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Loving husband of the late Margaret (Hughes) Cornacchini, father of Norman Cornacchini Jr. and his wife Deborah of Abington, Lisa Mullinix and her husband Thomas of Dedham, the late Nancy McCann and her husband Arthur of Dedham and Linda Cotto and her husband Nicholas Jr. of Dedham.  Norman “Nono” enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Melissa Wilson, Collin and Ryan Mullinix, Jennifer and Michelle McCann, Nicholas and Julie Cotto and  great grandchildren; Alexander Vert, Lucas and Samuel Wilson and Sawyer Libby.  He is survived by his brother Richard Cornacchini of Lynn and his sister Janet Cahill of Abington and a great number of nieces and nephews.

In his early 20s, Norman worked at Merit gas station as an attendant and mechanic.  From there, he worked as an appliance refinisher (spray painter) for 30+ years but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health.  He went on to work part-time as a delivery person for the Dedham Times and also Candy Bouquet of Dedham and then worked as a Clerk at Joseph Cahill and Associates until he retired in 2017.

Norman has been an avid Boston Bruins fan since the 1960s.  His friends and family always knew to never call him during a game.  Another passion of Norman’s was boating and fishing.  He enjoyed bringing his family out on adventures to the Boston Harbor Islands on his prized boat “The Linda Jean” every summer.   His early day hobby of CB radio activities inspired his radio handle “Turtle” which some friends still call him to this day.  An enthusiastic reader, Norman would have multiple books going at once.  However, above all hobbies and passions, going to the casino was always his favorite entertainment.

Norm will be remembered for his sense of humor, his thoughtfulness and his generosity.  He made an impression on people throughout his life and will be lovingly missed.  As much as this loss is painful for his family, knowing he is at peace is giving comfort.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit and celebrate Norm’s life.  Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 7th from 4:00-8:00PM at Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham, MA,  followed by a memorial service on Thursday, November 8th at 10:00AM in the funeral home, concluding at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

I knew Norm for many, many years. He was the gracious and gentle welcomer to all who came to Joe Cahill’s office in Dedham. He was always helpful and pleasant. He seemed genuinely happy to see everyone who came through the door. He had the rare gift of making others feeling comfortable and well taken care of. Please know that he will be remembered fondly.
