Fitzgerald, Eugene “Fitzy”
Eugene C. “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, a resident of S. Yarmouth, and a former longtime resident of Dedham for 55 years, passed away on March 4, 2018 at the age of 84. Eugene was born in Boston in 1934 and is the son of the late David J. and Mary A. (Durkee) Fitzgerald. He was also a Korean War veteran and enlisted into the Navy at the age of 17. Eugene was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Dedham and was a member of the American Legion Post 18 in Dedham. He was an avid Patriots fan and loved swimming in the ocean. Eugene was the beloved husband of Marietta (Gagnon) and loving father of James M. and his wife Lily of Fl., Timothy J. and his husband Dennis Paquin of Fl., Kathleen A. Gaetani and her husband Michael of Dedham, Patricia A. Lotane and her husband Michael of West Yarmouth, Maureen A. Nedder of Walpole and Robert Nedder Jr. of Dedham, and the late Thomas P. and Brian P. Fitzgerald. Dear brother to Terence and his wife Marsha of Dennis and the late David Fitzgerald and the late Daniel Fitzgerald and his late wife Carmella. Also survived by his 22 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Fri. from 4-7PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the funeral home beginning at 9AM on Sat. and proceed to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Alzheimers Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452 would be appreciated.
