Weismann. Muriel M.
Muriel Margaret (Wyman) Weismann, 104, passed away peacefully on October 14 at her home in Westwood. Muriel’s generosity and great kindness for others was a gift to her family and to all who spent time with her. She enjoyed her later years at home in the company of her family and caregivers.
Muriel grew up in Dedham and spent summers in Plymouth at her father’s cottage on Boot Pond, swimming, canoeing and reading, until her late 90’s. She especially liked discovering wildflowers – lady slippers and mayflowers were her favorites – and she knew their names and the most likely spot to find them.
She graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in 1935. After college Muriel worked as a social worker visiting families in Washington DC. In her 80’s she worked at Glad Rags in Westwood where her eye for uniqueness and quality was valued at the bric-a-brac table.
On one of her many boat trips back from Washington she met Clarence Weismann. They married in 1942 and raised and nurtured two children, Judy and Paul. They were married for 58 years.
Throughout her life Muriel enjoyed crafts and finding objects of beauty at church fairs. She loved decoupage and decorating. She had the eye of an artist.
Muriel’s interest in others deepened and widened our lives. Her love and appreciation of others was one of her gifts which will be remembered above all others.
She leaves behind her children, Judy of Concord and Paul of Berkeley CA, three grandchildren, Gretchen of Newton, Peter of Portland, Chris of Portsmouth, her sister Mary of Dedham, her niece Donna of Passumpsic VT and her nephew David of Hampton CT, and their families.
A graveside service at Westwood Cemetery will be held for Muriel’s family and caregivers.
