Foehl, Linda
Linda (Mackey) Foehl, a retired teacher, died peacefully of lymphoma July 9th in her home in Dover. She was 78. Beloved wife of Atty. William C. Foehl who predeceased her in 2001, Linda was born and raised in Bronxville, New York. She graduated from Colby College in 1960 and moved to Dover in 1962 with her husband. Full of energy and an infectiously positive attitude, Linda taught and inspired scores of young children at St. Paul’s Nursery School in Dedham followed by the Pine Hill School in Sherborn. A talented actor and singer, Linda appeared in many productions of the Dover Foundation and was recently honored for her lifetime of service to the community. She also played the bass guitar for The Centre Streeters, a beloved country and bluegrass band she co-founded 40 years ago. Linda loved people and she loved music. Gatherings of generations of family and friends were regularly centered around Linda and the family piano. She loved an audience and she never failed to draw others to her singing through her boundless and indomitable spirit.
She leaves four children, Curtis M. of North Adams, Mace Foehl-Hemphill and her husband Nate of Gill, Reed M. of Pownal, VT, and Stewart L. and his husband Steve Swenson of Washington, DC, three sisters, her grandchildren: Trevor, Mackey, Jesse, Cooper, Jaden, and Rowan and her dear friend Charlie Long of Dover.
A memorial service is planned or Saturday, September 9th at 2:00 pm at the Dover Church. Due to Dover Day, additional parking may be found across the street at St. Dunstans Episcopal Church or at Most Precious Blood Church on Centre Street.
So sorry to hear about Linda’s passing. She taught both of my kids and we all loved her!
What a special woman, she will be missed by so many.
