McDowell, Alexander B.
Alexander “Blair” McDowell, Jr. passed away on June 5, 2017 at the age of 82. Born in Boston, MA, the son of Alexander B., Sr. and Vivian (Whitney) McDowell. He was a graduate of Dedham High School and then went on to work as a stereotyper for several newspapers. He worked for the Boston Globe for many years until his retirement. Blair was active with the Norwood Little League and was the Babe Ruth equipment manager and umpire along with being a former Town Meeting Member.
Blair is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce (Gafford) McDowell and his 3 children, Lorna Carlson and her husband Russell, Carol Hubbell and her husband Bob of No. Attleboro and Alex McDowell of Norwood, and his 5 grandchildren; Michael Carlson, Alexander and Rob Hubbell, Amber and Hunter McDowell. All of which he adored.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols St., Norwood at 11AM followed by a funeral service at 12PM. Interment will be in Rock Hill Cemetery in Foxborough.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Circle of Hope Foundation of Norwood, 24 Myrtle St., Norwood, MA 02062.
