Calvi, Giovanna
Giovanna (D’Aiello) Calvi, a resident of Boston, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston. She was 86. Giovanna was born February 5, 1931 in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, the last surviving child of Guiseppe and Pietrina (Barbera) D’Aiello. She was the sister of the late Cosimo D’Aiello and the late Ignazia DiSalvo. She is the wife for 64 year of Salvatore Tristano Calvi with whom she worked as a hairstylist. She is also survived by her son, Rocco Calvi of Boston; her two daughters, Lynn Calvi of Boston, and Anne Marie Cecala, and her husband Dominick, of Westwood; and her four grandchildren, Joseph Cecala, and his wife Laila, Arielle Cecala, Tristan Cecala, and Alessandra Cecala. Giovanna enjoyed gardening and cooking, and she loved to dance. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 25th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Friday starting at 8 am and proceed with us at approximately 8:30 am to St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood for her Mass of Christian Burial at 9 o clock. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations to the Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre Street, Boston, MA 02130 would be appreciated.
So very very sorry for the loss of your Nonnie, Arielle. You’ll get through this though it’s so painful at present. Hope this you are well and all is good has been good. Stay strong for yourself and your family…. warm hugs Arielle…
