Dorothy Louise (Holman) Rich, a lifelong resident of Norwood, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was 91. Dottie was born October 19, 1925 in Norwood, Massachusetts, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Liethead) Holman. She was a graduate of Norwood High School, class of 1943 and Lasell College. She worked for many years at the Probate Court and Registry of Deeds in Dedham. Dorothy She was the wife of the late Kelton Potter, and the late C. Lothrop Rich, (a Selectman in Norwood for 30 years). Dottie was the mother of Robert Potter of Scituate, and the late James Potter, and is also survived by three grandchildren, Tammy, Holly, and Michael; and three great grandchildren, Timothy, Katlyn and James. Dottie was always very active in the town, planning class reunions, volunteering at the Norwood Hospital, where she donated 4,000 hours of her time as a cashier in the coffee shop; as a life member of the Hospital Auxiliary, a Past President of Norwood A.A.R.P., a Past President of Widowed Lifeline, and a former town meeting member. She was also a member of Samoset Chapter No. 109, and Contentment Chapter No. 184, of the Order of Eastern Star. Dorothy enjoyed spending summers at Sandhill, Scituate, where she was Past President of the Ladies’ Sandhillettes. She also was a member of the Senior Center in Norwood, where she played cards, bingo, and wrote poems, which were published in the local newspaper. She was famous for staying in touch with old friends. And Dottie was a very active member of the First Congregational Church of Norwood. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, April 12th from 2 to 4 p at the Folsom and May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, Norwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday at 11 am at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street Norwood followed by interment in Highland Cemetery, Norwood
Bobby, We are saddened to hear of your mother’s passing. What wonderful memories we have of her over the many years. She always had such a vivacious personality.
