McMurtry, Robert
Robert “Bobby” McMurtry, a resident of Dedham and Miami, Florida, died Friday, March 31, 2017 at the West Side Medical Center in Plantation, Florida. He was 55. Bobby was born July 11, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Robert Henry and Annmarie (Ubertini) McMurtry. He is survived by his wife, Maureen P. (Black) McMurtry; his two daughters, Erin McMurtry, and her fiancé Tim Grant, of Fort Lauderdale, and Lisa McMurtry of Miami; his grandson, Mason Robert Grant; his sister, Annemarie Landry, and her husband Adam, of Dedham; his three brothers, Richard McMurtry, and his wife Brenda, of Readville, Representative Paul McMurtry of Dedham, and David McMurtry of Dedham; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and loyal friends in both Dedham and Florida. Robert loved family and friends above all else, his best buddy was his grandson Mason Robert. Robert graduated from Dedham High and went on to Rhode Island Technical Institute. He continued throughout his career getting certified in all aspects of mechanics. He was the Master mechanic on the Miami tunnel project for which they are going to name their garage in his memory later this month. He was currently working as the Maintenance Supervisor at Island Garden Marina in Miami Florida. Robert enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his 55 Chevy or working on his 51 pickup truck. He was an amazing cook; which he loved making homemade pizza and pasta for his friends and family, a talent that he learned from his Mom. He will be deeply missed by his wife, daughter’s, grandson, brothers, sister and an amazing group of extended family and friends. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, April 9th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home Monday, April 10th starting at 9:30 to form the funeral cortege which will depart the funeral home at 10:15 am and process past the family home to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham for Bobby’s Mass of Christian Burial at 11 o clock. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 would be appreciated.
