Montanaro, Sylvia
Sylvia (Caruso) Montanaro, a resident of Norwood, and formerly of Dedham and Readville, died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Norwood Hospital. She was 94. Sylvia was born in Boston August 21. 1922, one of the nine children of Federico and Francesca (DeFazio) Caruso, immigrants from Italy. Sylvia grew up in Readville and worked during World War Two inspecting transformers used on bombs. After the war she worked as a pattern maker for clothing and wedding dresses. Sylvia was the beloved mother of Cynthia Montanaro Dugan of Norwood and loving grandmother of Melissa Tobin, and her husband Dan, of Dedham and Laurie Cady, and her husband Paul Jr., of Foxboro. She was the dear great grandmother of Erin and James Tobin, and Andrew, Sean, Aila, Nina, and Aiden Cady and the dear sister of the late Regis Caruso, the late Orlando “Red” Caruso and his late wife Anna, the late Rinaldo “Jimmy” Caruso, and his late wife Angelina, the late Esther Artone, and her late husband Michael, the late Mary Poulton, and her later husband Paul, the late Frederick Caruso, and his late wives Janet and Adeline, the late Valentino Caruso, and his late wife Eleanor, and Ernest Caruso of Dedham and his late wife Ann. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, November first from 4-8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 9 am and proceed to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St, Dedham for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o clock. Interment will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 would be appreciated.
Sylvia will be missed by her family. she loved all the children
