Lovely, Robert G.
Robert George Lovely, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 89. Bob was born May 24, 1926 in Dedham, Massachusetts, the son of Louis and Elizabeth L. (Muirhead) Lovely. He graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1944 and immediately enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class until his honorable discharge in 1946. Bob then enrolled at Tufts University and earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He retired in 1980 after 30 years as a chemist for the Boston Gas Company. Bob was a longtime, active member of the Allin Congregational Church in Dedham where he sang in the choir and served on the Board of Deacons. He was a Member of Celestial Lodge AF & AM (formerly Constellation Lodge) and of Contentment Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Bob was the husband of the late Emma Jane (Pettingel) who predeceased him in 1998, and the brother of the late Louis Lovely. Bob is survived by his four daughters, Marcia D. Bibeault, and her husband Howard, of Attleboro, Janice E. Girard, and her husband Stephen, of Quincy, Cheryl E. Lovely, and Deborah D. Craig, and her fiancé Frank Cavaco, of Hudson; his six grandchildren, Katelyn Frazer, Kevin, Brian, and Lily Girard, and Emma and John A. Craig, III; and his two nephews, Neil and Dexter VanZile. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, December 30th from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday at 10 AM at the Allin Congregational Church, 683 High Street, Dedham followed by interment in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham with military honors. In Lieu of flowers donations to the Allin Congregational Church Organ/Choir Fund, 683 High Street, Dedham, MA 02026 or to the Salvation Army, 25 Shawmut Road, Canton, MA 02021 would be appreciated.
