Lenore “Lollie” Pennell, 93, widow of Joseph D. Pennell passed away December 10, 2015 at Wingate of Needham where she had been a resident since May, 2008.
Lollie was born in Portland, Maine on February 21, 1922, daughter of John and Sabina Kamilewicz. She was one of eight children. Lollie graduated from South Portland High School in 1941. During WW II, she worked as a telephone operator. On February 12, 1946 Lollie married Joseph Pennell. They resided in South Portland for most of their married life. In 2000, Lollie and Joe moved to Massachusetts to live with their only daughter, Suzanne. They were very fortunate to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary before Joe passed away on November 29, 2006. Lollie spent most of her life as a homemaker and had many wonderful talents; seamstress, baker, and compassionate caregiver to the sick. One of her greatest pleasures was visiting her relatives in Poland as a 70th birthday treat. Lollie spent time with her maternal aunt and many cousins in various areas of Poland. Lollie is survived by her daughter Suzanne of Stoughton, MA; her sister Dorothy Chaplin of Portland; her sister-in-law Patricia Plante, her husband Jerome and family of Old Orchard Beach along with many nieces, nephews and godchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Saint James Roman Catholic Church, Stoughton, MA at 10:30 AM on Saturday April 9, 2016. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
