Stella Barnes Moseley was born in Orange, California in 1927. Rev. George H. Moseley was born in Boston, MA in 1924. She passed away on November 16, 2015 in their home in West Roxbury. He passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015. They married almost 70 years ago in 1946 when he was studying at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. After his ordination to the ministry on June 27, 1950 at First Baptist Church in Fullerton, CA, Rev. and Mrs. Moseley moved to Massachusetts where Rev. Moseley pastored churches and she played the organ in Norwood, West Roxbury, and Seekonk. They were later members of First Baptist Church in Boston and First Baptist Church in Newton and most recently attended Old South Church in Boston. The Moseleys spent summers at their home on Martha’s Vineyard and attended the Vineyard Haven Baptist Church where Stella played the organ. She worked for many years at the Heritage House, a Christian bookstore in Boston. The Moseleys enjoyed the BSO every season as well as the Metropolitan Opera. They focused their lives around their church, family, summer home on Martha’s Vineyard, love of music, travels around the world, and their pet Shelties. George and Stella were a great couple who helped many people create wonderful memories through the trips and cruises that they organized. George was a well loved pastor of many churches including First Baptist of Hanover, MA where they became life long friends of our extended family. Stella was gracious and kind, ministering through her music. May God bless all those who have cherished memories of this devoted couple.
Two of the sweetest workers in the vineyard I ever had the pleasure of knowing. They were great congregants and lovely hosts who shared their love of travel with so many of us. I cherish our visits and have often thought of them fondly. My heart is with you as you grieve them.
I fondly remembered Stella as the first person 9greeter) I met at the Newton First Baptist Church nearly ten years ago. I had the privilege of sitting next them during the Sunday service whenever I could. The sunny smile of Stella and loving-kind manner of the Rev. Mosley always touched my heart and their loving presence on earth reminded me of God’s infinite love. God blesses the great souls.
I had the pleasure of knowing Stella and George as a friend and neighbor in Oak Bluffs. They were always gracious, welcoming us into their cottage and making us feel they were happy to see us. I learned much from them, not least being their vast knowledge of the world and their beloved classical music. Their passing is truly the end of an era, and I will continue to miss them.
We were friends and neighbors on Martha’s Vineyard, Stella walked her Sheltie Misty by my cottage most days, we began chatting and became friends. George and Stella were lovely, gracious people. We feel privileged to have known them and will miss them.
I am honored to call Stella and George my Grand Aunt and Grand Uncle. Their love of the Lord and toward each other touched many lives. The adventures they had were truly amazing. I don’t think my Aunt ever met a stranger who didn’t quickly become a friend. I love the way she laughed and her smile brought out a distinctive twinkle in her eyes. I am thankful for the eternal joy that they two now experience in the presence of our Lord and the blessed hope we have that someday we will meet again. I am thankful that their time separated on earth at the end was short. To God be all the glory for lives well lived!
They were kind and welcoming people.
I succeeded George Moseley as Pastor of Stratford Street United Church in 1992 after his ministry there. In the 11 years I was Pastor I heard many stories of his kindness and how he had what is called a “Pastor’s Heart”. He was beloved by the people he served .
In addition, George laid the ground work for the complete uniting of the church which came during my ministry there in 1997.
Stella was an exemplary Pastor’s wife doing those many unheard things that help
so much in the local church.
They were both wonderful servants of our Lord.

I’m very sorry to hear this. I just learned and am so sorry to have missed the funeral. I was lucky to have been good friends with the Moseleys for quite a few years when active in the Boston Camera Club and used to enjoy talking with them for hours about photography, traveling, music and more. Unfortunately, we had been in touch less frequently in recent years since their health declined, but I had spoken with them back early in the year and didn’t have any idea they would be leaving us so soon.
They were wonderful people and I will miss them very much. They will always be with us in our memories. Goodbye, George and Stella – our love goes with you.
Condolences to their family, whom they loved very much.
