Croke, Kenneth J.
Kenneth J. Croke “Ken” of Westwood died on October 12th after a long illness. Beloved husband for 55 years of Marie (Savage) Croke , loving father of Susan Wassmus of Westwood, Kenneth and his wife Angie of Denver, CO, Michael and his wife Kristen of Wellesley, and Karin DiFiore and her husband Matt of Canton. Cherished grandfather of Shauna and Brendan Wassmus, Kaitlyn, Shannon, and Meaghan Croke, Rachel, Nicholas, Matthew and Aidan Croke, Samuel, William, Thomas and Camryn DiFiore.
He was the son of the late James and Margaret (Harrington) Croke of Hyde Park. Beloved brother of the late Lawrence Croke, the late Edward Croke, and the late Margaret Fogarty. He is also survived by his loving sister Jean Claire Carroll of Scituate and his sister-in-law Louise Croke of Quincy.
Ken and his wife lived in Westwood for 46 years where they raised their family. Ken received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boston College. He continued his education and obtained his Certified Public Accounting license. Ken was a senior executive with the US Government, General Accounting Office for 30 plus years. Upon retirement from the government, Ken pursued a second career as a supervising auditor for 20 plus years with the Massachusetts State Auditor’s Office, where he worked on major projects such as Boston’s Big Dig and the Deer Island tunnel project. Ken’s passions were his family, scuba diving, boating, golfing, and traveling. Ken was a veteran of the US Army and was stationed abroad in Germany while he served for his country.
Ken was a true gentleman and will be missed by all those who knew him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, Oct 15th from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home in Westwood. A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 16th at St. Timothy’s Church, 650 Nichols St. in Norwood at 10 am. Burial will be in New Westwood Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ken may be made to The Friends of the Mass General Cancer Center.
