Cobb, Nancy P.
Nancy Patricia Cobb, of Newton, MA, a longtime former resident of Westwood, MA, died peacefully on Monday, May 4 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a short hospitalization. Nancy would have celebrated her 65th birthday this June. Born in Boston, MA, Nancy was the daughter of the late Ella (Walton) and Charles Cobb. Nancy was always interested in healthcare, and after graduating from Westwood High School she worked as a CNA at Glover Hospital in Needham. As a divorced mom she had her hands full, but went back to school and received her RN from Mass Bay Community College in 1980. She returned to Glover to work in Pediatrics and the ICU until 1992, when her longstanding battle with progressive multiple sclerosis made it impossible to continue. Despite the many challenges in her life, Nancy continued to stay current in her profession, and was able to help many of her friends and associates with their health issues. She always maintained her sense of humor, and enjoyed reading and table games of all kinds. She also was an active member of the MS Society, enjoying warm friendships and looking forward every year to attending the MS Summer Camp. At the time of her death Nancy was the Vice President of the Resident Council at Newton Health Care Center, where she had been a resident for the last ten years. Nancy was the mother of Scott Cobb and his wife Charlene, of Milford, NH. She is survived by two grandchildren, Ella and Ethan Cobb; her brother David Cobb of Warwick, RI, and his wife Katharina; and five nieces – Mary Hollman, Karen Willis, Elinore Davey, Deanne Orabona and Shirley Gentry. A graveside service will be held at Westwood Cemetery on Monday, May 11th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations made be made in Nancy’s memory to National MS Society, P. O. Box 845945, Boston, MA 02284.
