Chicoine, William J.
William Joseph Chicoine, a resident of Dedham and formerly of Westwood and Middleboro, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood. He was 93. William was born March 21, 1922 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the only child of Joseph Adjtour and Beatrice Louise (Regnier) Chicoine. He earned his Bachelor Degree from Boston University before service in the US Navy as a Chief Yoeman during World War Two. William retired in 1981 after a 30 year career as an Executive for the New England Telephone Company (and all its various subsequent incarnations; Nynex, AT&T, and Verizon). He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
William was the beloved father of Beatrice Turner, and her husband Russ, of Weymouth, William J. Jr., and his wife Kathleen, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Mark, and his wife Kay, of Atlanta, Georgia, Michelle Tapsell, and her husband Charles, of Germantown, Tennessee, Regina Haire, and her husband Frank, of Plainville, and the late Denise Chicoine. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and his former wife Helen T. (Hollis) Chicoine. Services and interment in Arlington National Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the Animal Rescue League, 55 Anna’s Place, Dedham, MA 02026 would be appreciated.
