MacLellan, Estelle June
Estelle June (Cosgro) MacLellan (formerly of Westwood, MA) died peacefully in her sleep January 27, 2015. Born July 18, 1916, she spent her youth living in Manchester, NH before her family settled in Roslindale, MA. June had two older fraternal twin brothers (E. Harlow Cosgro and Joseph Harold Cosgro who preceded her in death) and a younger sister (Virginia Snow). A New Englander through and through, June always had a bright smile and a cheery hello regardless of how many dreary and overcast days of winter. She loved camping at Curlew Pond in Myles Standish State Forest with her two children Dorothy and Chuck in the summer and making clothing for people during the school year. On February 5, 1944 she married Donald Henry MacLellan and together they enjoyed much love and laughter as a married couple until his death July 8, 2009. At that time, June moved across the country to Tacoma, WA to be nearer to her daughter’s family.
June worked for many years as a seamstress, a Sewing instructor for both Westwood and Milton Adult Evening Education and as a secretary at John Hancock.
June is survived by her sister Virginia Snow, her daughter Dorothy (Larry) Russell, her son Chuck (Kate) MacLellan, her grandchildren Michelle (Alejo) Herrera, Kristina Kuehnel and Megan MacLellan along with great grandchildren Bryanne (Cameron) Eckhaus, Alejo Herrera, Aycha Butler and James Ickes and great great granddaughter Mckenna Eckhaus. Her unfailing positive spirit, willingness to help others first before herself and lemon squares to die for will be sorely missed by all.
Donations to Alzheimer’s Research in June’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
