Marshall, Marguerite
Marguerite (McDermott) Marshall, a longtime resident of West Roxbury, died peacefully Sunday, October 19, 2014 at her home in West Roxbury. She was 93. Marguerite was born October 13, 1921 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the five children of Alphonsus and Anna Camilla (Thygeson) McDermott. She graduated from Hyde Park High School and worked for several years as a clerk at the Sturtevant Division of Westinghouse in Hyde Park, and then as a saleswoman at the Stichery in Wellesley before finishing her working years at Filene’s in Chestnut Hill until her retirement in the early 1970’s. Marguerite was the wife of the late John Joseph Marshall Jr., who predeceased her in 1994, and the sister of the late Robert F. McDermott and the late David W. McDermott. She is survived by her two daughters, Anne M. Hasson of Milton, and Barbara J. Marshall of West Roxbury; her three sons, John J. Marshall III of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Richard B. Marhsall of Walpole, and David C. Marshall of West Roxbury; her two sisters, Ruth B. Ahern of West Roxbury and Claire B. Carey of Winchester; as well as 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 from 10:30 AM until noon at the Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Chrysostom Church, 4750 Washington Street, West Roxbury at 12:30 PM. Interment wil be private.
