Stone, Esther E.
Esther Edith Stone, a longtime resident of the Golden Living Center (formerly Eastwood Nursing Home) in Dedham, died Sunday, July 20th, 2014 at the Norwood Hospital after a brief illness. She was 95. Esther was born January 2, 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of Clarence A. and Edith (Stiles) Stone. She graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and attended the Boston Clerical School, and worked for several years as a secretary for Lumberman’s Insurance Company in Boston. She was a lifelong member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in West Roxbury. Esther is survived by three cousins, Elsie Ellington and Virginia Shreve, both of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Phyllis Meserlian of West Roxbury; as well as other extended family. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, July 23rd from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday at 11 AM at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 21 Stratford Street, West Roxbury. Burial will follow in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. In lieu of flowers donations to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 21 Stratford Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132 would be appreciated.
