Harold Carl “Pete” Gustafson, a longtime resident of Hyde Park, died Saturday, February 1st, 2014 at the Deutsches Altenheim Nursing Home in West Roxbury. He was 94. Pete was born June 17, 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts, the third of the eight children of Karl and Elva E. (Anderson) Gustafson. He grew up in West Roxbury and graduated from Boston Trade High School before serving in the US Army from 1942 until 1945 as an airplane armorer gunner in the European, African and Middle Eastern theatre. He was a member of the Fogg Post of the American Legion in Hyde Park. Pete was the husband of the late Edith A. (Wallin) Gustafson; the father of the late John Gustafson and the late Donna M. Gustafson; and the brother of the late Leonard, William, Vincent, Russell, Stanley, and Herbert Gustafson. He is survived by his sister, Viola Morse, and her husband Richard, of Carver. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service Monday, February 10th at 1 PM at the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury.
