Longval, Leo H.
Leo Henry Longval, of Westwood since 1998, and formerly a longtime resident of Dedham, died Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 at Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood after a long illness. He was 83. Leo was born March 11, 1925 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, a son of the late Canadian immigrants Henry and Diana (Bailey) Longval. He graduated from Commerce High School in Boston and served in the US Navy during World War Two. Leo worked as a firefighter for the Town of Brookline for 34 years until his retirement in 1989. For many years he bowled with the St. Denis Bowling League at the Norwood Sports Center. He was the husband of the late Mary T. (Gallagher) Longval, and the late Ann K. (DeMaio) Fogerty Longval. He is survived by his daughter, Marybeth Harnish, and her husband Glenn, of Marshfield; his four sons, Kevin L., and his wife Sheila, of Westwood, Paul F., and his wife Joanne, of Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, Mark J., and his wife Ping, of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Christopher, and his wife Lisa, of Easton; his brother, Norman Longval of Dedham; and his seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Kathryn and Mary Harnish, and Colin, Ryan, Monique, and Cerese Longval. Visiting hours will be held Sunday March 1, 2009 from 2-5 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, (Route 109), Westwood. Relatives and friends will gather at the Funeral Home Monday at 8 AM and proceed to St. Denis Church, 157 Washington Street (Route 1A), Westwood for his Mass of Christian Burial at 9 o clock. Interment with military honors will follow in New Westwood Cemetery.
