Anderson, Jean
Jean Turnbull (Gardner) Anderson, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at her home in Westwood after a long illness. She was 95. Jean was born November 30, 1917 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alfred H. and Jean Turnbull (Henry) Gardner. She attended Wheelock College in Boston and graduated from Boston University with a major in education. Jean was a former Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, and Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls. She was a Worthy Matron for Contentment Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of their quilting club. Jean was the wife of the late John William Anderson, Jr who predeceased her in 1997, and the sister of the late Alfred Hamilton Gardner, Jr. She is survived by her son, John W. “Jack” Anderson, III; her two daughters, Jean A. Graunke, and her husband Fred, of South Berwick, Maine, and Janet A. Brock of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Todd Anderson, and his wife Madelyn, Gwenyth Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Stephen Graunke, Scott Graunke, Jeffrey Graunke, and David Brock; and her four great granddaughters, Jacey, Bryn, Tori, and Deven. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 27th from 6 to 9 PM with an Eastern Star Service by Contentment Chapter, OES at 7 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street (Route 109), Westwood, MA. Relatives and freinds are invited to attend her funeral Wednesday at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood followed by interment in Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, MA. Donations in Jean’s memory to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association of MA, 72 East Concord Street, C3, Boston, MA 02118 or to the First Baptist Church of Westwood, 808 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090 would be appreciated.

My thoughts are with you during your time of sorrow. She was a grand lady, a devoted mother, and wife. Though she will be missed, we will always have so many fond memories. Take care to your and your family.
