Anderson, Herbert
Herbert Edwin Anderson, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts. He was 85. Herbert was born August 7, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the three sons of Swedish immigrants Edwin and Judith (Erdands) Anderson. He attended Dedham High School before enlisting the the US Navy where he served during World War Two as a Seaman Second Class. He then joined the US Marine Corps where he served during the Korean War, eventually being Honorably discharged as a Corporal. Herbert worked for over 35 years as a maintenance man at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion in Dedham, and enjoyed puttering around his house, fishing, boating, his dogs and his grandkids. Herbert was the husband of the late Mary Frances (Burke) Anderson. He is survived by his son, Paul Anderson of Dedham; his two brothers, Gerard Anderson of Mansfield, and Richard Gustavson of Dedham; and his three grandsons, Alexander Joseph Anderson, Christopher Ryan Anderson, and Evan James Anderson, all of Easton. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, April 25th from 6 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. After cremation, private burial with military honors will be held at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
