Capone, Walter
Walter Ernest Capone, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 78. Walter was born February 3, 1931 in Dedham, Mass, the son of the late Florendo and Clementine (DeMarco) Capone. He graduated from Dedham High School where he served as the captain of his football team, and enlisted in the Army Air Force where he served for four years as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. Walter worked for 35 years for Boston Edison Company as a supervisor, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion in Dedham, and the Dedham Retired Men’s Club. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth V. (Murphy); his two daughters, Gayle E. Capone of Dedham, and Margaret M. Capone-Butler of Cherry Hill, Colorado; and his granddaughter, Ann C. Butler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Walter Friday, February 6th at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dedham Boosters Club, 269 Common Street, Dedham, MA 02026 would be appreciated.
