Rooney, James H. Jr.
James Henry Rooney Jr., a resident of Norwood for the past 15 years, and formerly of Hyde Park, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Milton Hospital in Milton with his family by his side. He was 81. James was born July 26, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of James H. Sr. and Rose (Curra) Rooney. He graduated from Brandeis Vocational High School in Boston and served in the US Marine Corps, during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. James worked as a union roofer for Roofers Local Union 33 of Stoughton from 1957 until his retirement in 1991. He was also a “fish enthusiast”, both as a fisherman, and in his raising of tropical fish. James also enjoyed travelling, especially to Mexico. James is survived by his beloved companion Joanne J. Drengberg of Norwood; his daughter, Audrey J. Borroni of Norwood; his three sons, James H. Rooney III of Harvard, Michael P. Rooney of Amherst, New Hampshire, and Sean P. Rooney of Dedham; his brother, John J. Rooney of Avon; his sister, Rose Marie Chinchillo of Boca Raton, Florida; his six grandchildren, Dawn M. Casto, Peter J. Borroni Jr., Margaret Rooney, Elizabeth Rooney, Jaclyn Rooney, and Mikayla Rooney; his great granddaughter, Sophia Rae Casto; and his wife, Dolores A. (Tassinari). He was the father of the late Kelly Rooney. Private burial with military honors was in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
