Thompson, Eaton R. “Tom”
Eaton Rees “Tom” Thompson, a resident of East Falmouth for 25 years, and formerly of Weymouth and Hanover, died Friday, December 12th, 2008 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood. He was 82. Tom was born July 6, 1926 in Weymouth, a son of the late Porter W., and Ada Louise (Bower) Thompson. He worked as a handiman, and as a repairman for Building 19 in Hingham. He loved animals, especially his horse, Duchess. Tom is survived by his brother, Richard Thompson of Westwood; his sisters, Carolyn Wissinger of Wilton, Connecticut, and Joanna L. Davenport of Oakland, California; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service in being planned for next Spring. In lieu of flowers donations to Angell Memorial Animal Hospital, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, 02130 would honor Tom’s love of animals.
I am so sorry for your loss. I was a librarian for 17 years at the Falmouth Public Library and enjoyed visiting with Tom for all those years when he came into the library. Tom enjoyed chatting at the reference desk about Weymouth where we both grew up and about South Shore history. Tom would rake pine needles for me so that I could put them around my shrubs. When a desperate woman who had to move and find a home for her cat came into the library, Tom was willing to take the cat. He took such great care of the big cat.
Please let me know when there will be a memorial service. Kathy Mortenson
